Project 4: Religion and the Issues of Bioethics

The modern age abounds in bioethical dilemmas such as brain death, organ transplant, euthanasia, abortion, in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination, gene diagnosis and human cloning. The project attempts to find answers to these questions in terms of a Buddhist perspective. Ongoing results of the research have been published in works titled "Bioethical Problems of Life and Death--Brain Death and Organ Transplant" (Collaboration, Daisan Bunmei Sha, 1998) and "Bioethical Problems of Life and Death 2--Dealing with AIDS" (Collaboration, Daisan Bunmei Sha, 1999).
